AFF goes beyond basic fire awareness. Participants learn to command fire-fighting operations, manage teams, coordinate with the engine room, and handle complex scenarios including enclosed space entry.
Leading and directing fire-fighting teams; communication, coordination, and incident command.
SCBA donning, operational use in smoke-filled compartments, buddy system protocols.
CO₂, halon, and foam systems — activation procedures, hazards, and post-release protocols.
Post-fire assessment, damage control, report writing, and preventive action planning.
Candidates must hold a valid BST certificate before enrolling in AFF. Most centres require proof of sea service of at least 6 months.
